Detach the four cables (two fan connectors, 2 RGB connectors); this will allow you to detach the GPU Cooler from the PCB and Backplate to set aside, Remove the six small Philips head screws which go through the PCB into the backplate to free the card, Remove any thermal pad material and place 2mm thermal pads where the memory chips are soldered onto the PCB allowing you to take better advantage of the metal backplate, Once the new pads are in place you screw the PCB to the backplate and be careful to not accidentally move the thermal pads as youre sealing. This means that the fan power on the 3080 must be pretty robust since at least the split fan connector would be at or near 1amp, and the single fan connector is likely .5 amp, or also 1amp just to reduce part complexity.
